Abstract
Administration of fentany1 for sedation, analgesia, and prevention from fighting with artifical ventilation in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is popular nowadays. But clinicians often overlook the occurrence of withdrawal symptoms and signs even in infants after long-term sedation and analgesia. We report the case of an infant who presented with withdrawal symptoms and signs after 7 day-infusion of fentany1. This 4-months old infant was brought to PICU for artificial ventilation with a diagnosis of pulmonary edema. We report an experience about the development and management of withdrawal symptoms and signs after abrupt discontinuation of fentany1 infusion in an infant.
